Sarah Plain and Tall

                                                               Hey guys!
For my birthday last year my Grandma sent me an aduio recording of Sarah Plain And Tall. This year for school I have to read Sarah Plain And Tall. So I just listened to the recording that my Grandma made. Are you ready?!

Anna Witting was baking bread one spring morning. While her little brother Caleb  was watching and asking questions about their Mother who had died several years ago. They were having fun together when Anna looked up and saw Papa coming in. He told them that he had placed an ad in the newspaper for a wife. And he had received an answer. Her name was Sarah. She told them that she was plain and tall. She lived in Main and had a cat named Seal.

After sending letters back and forth for a few months, Sarah said that she would come to visit. If she liked Papa and Anna and Caleb and their house, she would stay. She was coming on the 9:30 train and she would wear a yellow bonnet. Finally a week later Papa left to pick Sarah up. Caleb couldn't wait for Sarah to come. Anna wasn't so sure she wanted Sarah to come. She knew how to bake bread, but did Sarah? Finally the wagon came into view. "I see a yellow bonnet!" Caleb cried with excitement.

That night Sarah taught them how to sing, "Summer Is a Coming In." The dogs loved Sarah and Seal. The next day when Anna woke up, Sarah was making breakfast. Sarah fixed Anna's hair just like hers. Anna was happy because she looked like Sarah. During lunch Sarah told them that when she was little she and her brother liked playing on the sand dunes that they had in Main. After lunch Papa went to the barn. He called for Sarah Anna and Caleb to come see. Papa had made a dune out of hay! Sarah loved sliding down it.

Sarah taught Anna and Caleb how to swim in the cow pond. Papa taught Sarah how to drive the wagon. So she could go to town to get some food. Sarah was gone a long time. Caleb was worried that she had left to go back to Main. But a few minutes later she came back with some surprises. She had bought some penciles to color with. They were the colors of the sea.

Anna was happy she had just found out some exciting news. Sarah was going to stay! She was going to be Anna and Caleb's mother and Papa's new wife. Everyone was excited There was going to be a wedding soon. Finally Papa and Sarah was married and they lived happily ever after.

Well hope you enjoyed! See you next time!

Heritage Hill

Hello everyone! What are you all up too? School has already started so my Mom took me in a Field to Heritage Hill in Green Bay on Tuesday. We wanted to go to the school house but we missed the first class and had to wait for the second. We went to the fire station for the bucket brigade instead.                              This is the fire wagon they used in 1872.                                        This is the fire station and the guy who set up the bucket brigade. For a bucket brigade he set up some flags that were used as the fire. Someone would fill a bucket with water and hand it to the person next to them and so on till it reached the fire and the empty bucket was handed back down the line.  Then we went to the farm house where I got to.... ....card wool...... .....and wash l...

Pocahontas

Hello All, Yes it's that time of year again. School Time. In case you don't know every week, (until school is over) I will be posting a book report about what I am reading in school. So let's get started!                                                                                 POCAHONTAS  Four hundred years ago, on Chesapeake Bay Virginia, there lived a courageous girl named Pocahontas. She was the favorite daughter of Chief Powhatan. Even when she was little she wanted to explore. "The Brothers" were going on a trip to spy on the white people, who had just landed on Chesapeake Bay. Pocahontas had hidden in the bottom of their canoe, covered by a blanket with a little bag filled with popcorn and berries. When "The Brother's" found her they were very angry and took her bac...
