Plain Girl

                                                    What's up  guys?
Hope you all are having fun this week because I sure am!  I've been reading a book called,"Plain Girl". So lets get started!

Esther was a plain country Amish girl. She had never been to school although her Mother had taught   her how to read and write at home. Her parents had been forced to let her big brother David go to school. David had taken "steps away" he had rode in a car and he wore buttons on his shirts. One day he just left. He told Esther that he was leaving. As she watched him go, she cried a little. Now it was two years later and the police had just stopped at Esther's house and told her Pa that Esther must go to school too.

So Esther got ready to go to school. Her Mother made her some new clothes. Her Aunt Ruth (who had come to live with them) helped out too. A month before school started Esther (who shared a room with Aunt Ruth) woke up to a bright light shinning in their window. Aunt Ruth was laughing and shaking at the same time. Hans (her boyfriend) was shining his buggy light in her window. Which meant that he wanted to marry her. Aunt Ruth rushed down the stairs and let Hans in. Esther was happy as she climbed back in bed. Soon there would be a wedding!

The wedding was planned for the first Tuesday in November, just two weeks before school started. After the wedding they had a quilting for Ruth. Sara (who used to be David's girlfriend before he left) was happy and trying to pick who would be getting married next. Everyone wondered why she was so happy because David left and she would have to try to find someone else she liked. Esther went out to help Sara get some water from the pump. While they were pumping Sara told her that David had stopped by her house and would visit Esther when she was at school.

One the way to school the next day. Her Father told her not talk to anyone, and that he would be there at three o'clock sharp to pick her up. After Father left Esther waited by the school house. Soon the teacher came out and rang the bell. Esther sat behind a girl who wore a pink dress with white buttons down the front. When the teacher rang the bell again, Esther went out to eat her lunch. When she looked up she could hardly believe her eyes... it was David!

After a few weeks of school and seeing David every day, the girl in the pink dress asked Esther if she wanted to be friends. Esther didn't know what to think. Because Father said not to talk to anyone. Esther decided to become friends anyway she found out the girl's name was Mary. Mary taught her how to play jacks and that's what they did everyday at recces until it became cold. Then they played tag with the other children.

One day Mary asked if Esther wanted to switch clothes on Monday. She told Esther that she would were her pink dress with the white buttons. So on Monday when she got to school Mary had on a plaid brown dress. She said that her Mother had put her Pink dress in a box and she couldn't tell her that she was going to change with Esther. So they decided not to change clothes.

Pretty soon it was close to Christmas. One night she went into Mother and Father's room and took out David's old clothes. Then she dropped them out the window where David could find them. Then at school she gave Mary a pretty white apron and Mary gave her some jacks and balls. Then on Christmas right before breakfast during the silent prayer David knocked on the door. When Father opened the door he stood their looking at David. Mother went running to the door crying "David! David!" Father let David in and they sat down to breakfast. Everyone was very happy that Christmas.

Well hope you enjoyed! See you next time!

I miss you

I really do miss you but I know that you are in a better place,  And you can finally see,  And if you can see my dog right now would you tell him hi for me,  But I know that I love you and you love me. I miss the way you laughed at your own jokes, The way you made the fire crackle,  And how your voice went wild when you told a story, But I know that you are watching from above, And I know that you are smiling down at me, I really do miss you Papaw. I can't wait till I can see you again, And I know that you are probably running all over the place, Smiling as we try to become great, Like I said I really do miss you. I wish you could be with us this Father's day Papaw. But since you can't I thought you would like this. You were always telling us to sing a song for you and Mamaw. Please tell Buster I said hi. I miss you                                   ...

Pocahontas

Hello All, Yes it's that time of year again. School Time. In case you don't know every week, (until school is over) I will be posting a book report about what I am reading in school. So let's get started!                                                                                 POCAHONTAS  Four hundred years ago, on Chesapeake Bay Virginia, there lived a courageous girl named Pocahontas. She was the favorite daughter of Chief Powhatan. Even when she was little she wanted to explore. "The Brothers" were going on a trip to spy on the white people, who had just landed on Chesapeake Bay. Pocahontas had hidden in the bottom of their canoe, covered by a blanket with a little bag filled with popcorn and berries. When "The Brother's" found her they were very angry and took her bac...
